The North East Learning Trust (NELT) is proud to announce its new role as the North East Associate College for the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), where they will jointly deliver professional development and teacher training to aspiring teachers across the north east of England in line with the Early Career Framework.
The National Insitute of Teaching has established itself as England’s flagship school-led teacher and leader training and development provider. They chose to partner with NELT, the only organisation selected in the north east, due to the Trust's strong teacher training and teacher development track record, as well as their capacity to deepen the impact of the NIoT's work within the region.
Lesley Powell CBE, chief executive officer of the North East Learning Trust, said:
“We are delighted to be joining forces with the NIoT where we will work together to train and further develop a talented teaching workforce that gives our region's children the excellent education they deserve. Teacher recruitment and retention faces significant challenges and I believe that this strong partnership will support our goal of improving this across the north east.”
This newly blended partnership will deliver best-in-class professional development for teachers at all stages of their careers up to senior leadership and beyond. This includes a full suite of coveted National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) with applications now open for 2023.
The National Institute of Teaching also seeks to boost the quality of teaching and school leadership by carrying out research, applying these insights to its professional development programmes, and sharing findings with the sector.
