North East Learning Trust is top for careers

We are proud to announce that NELT has been named as The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC)'s top medium-sized partner Trust in the country in recognition of the fantastic work we do to encourage students to consider their future career choices.

From enterprise visits and work experience placements to expert talks and career fairs, our Trust's vast range of opportunities for students to explore potential vocations have been held up as a beacon of best practice on the CEC's national platform.

In addition, behind-the-scenes work by staff through the CEC's careers improvement community has been hailed as exemplary with NELT teachers reviewing the impact of careers teaching in other schools and supporting them with their career curriculums.

Speaking of her pride in the achievement, Lou McManus, careers lead at NELT, said:

"It is wonderful to hear from the CEC that they rate our work so highly. We've been refining and improving the career advice and guidance that we offer our students for many years, and it's great to have reached a place where we can share what we have learned with other schools. Due to the diversity of our career curriculum, children leave us with an above-average understanding of the options available to them when they leave education, and in many cases, fired up to chase the career of their dreams. By offering a rich range of enriching job-focussed experiences like shadowing interesting roles and hearing from enthusiastic experts, we can show children, first-hand  that a fulfilling career is theirs for the taking if they find something they enjoy and work hard."
